After graduating from college with a degree in Art, Loreen wasn't sure how to use her artistic skills. She began sculpting jewelry and chess sets from polymer clay to sell at festivals. At age 25 she tried her hand at combining words and illustrations to create books for children, and soon signed her first publishing contract. Her picture books are known for showcasing math, science, and language arts content in an engaging way that kids love. She has also created many unique teaching resources for the classroom.

After wrapping up a successful career writing and illustrating over 40 children’s books, Loreen Leedy is now a mixed media artist. She incorporates acrylics, wax pastels, paper, and/or fabric in an improvisational manner to create her artwork.

Loreen lives in central Florida, and often draws inspiration from the local flora and fauna. She lives on a forested property with deer, raccoons, turkeys, foxes, and birds, as well as her husband, scientist Andrew Schuerger.
