| Red Flower is a still life image, not my usual subject matter. It was accepted into the Orlando Art Museum’s 2006 Festival of the Trees, a benefit for the museum. I drew it in Photoshop, then printed out a full size pattern on large format paper. After transferring the lines, they were painted with metallic fabric paints. | ||||||||||||
| Fusible web was ironed onto the back, then one or two sections at a time were cut out and new fabric inserted from behind. It was free-motion quilted then mounted onto heavy duty stretcher bars. The finished size is 18 by 26 inches, but the actual image had to be a couple of inches larger on all sides to allow it to wrap around to the back. It was interesting to try out the gallery wrap style of mounting a fabric piece. | ||||||||||||
